Free LinkedIn advice for Edinburgh International Film Festival Staff
Edinburgh ‘Linkedin Doctor’ David Petherick is offering staff affected by the recent failure of the Edinburgh International Film Festival free expert advice to improve their Linkedin Profile.
Centre for the Moving Image, the parent charity of Edinburgh International Film Festival, Filmhouse Cinema and Belmont Cinema in Aberdeen has fallen into administration, making its staff redundant with immediate effect.
To help the 102 members of staff from the Film Festival, Edinburgh’s Filmhouse and Aberdeen’s Belmont Cinema find new jobs, David will be interviewing affected staff one-to-one via Zoom, and then giving them specific written advice with links to custom online content to help them improve their career prospects.
David Petherick said: "The news about the Edinburgh International Film Festival has been devastating for the cultural life of the cities of Edinburgh and Aberdeen, and has been widely reported. But behind the headlines, real people's lives have been shattered overnight. I am aiming to give them a ray of hope, and help them to refocus their energy towards finding new roles.
At the very least, having a sympathetic and expert ear to talk to, and giving their online profiles a professional microsurgery will have a positive effect on their mental state. I've been doing this professionally since 2006, and have long been a supporter and fan of both the Filmhouse and Film Festival. This is just a small way of saying thank you to these amazing people, and offering them some practical support at a very difficult time in their lives."
